Trying to stay unbusy-maybe next week?

We have had a very busy couple of days

Last week (Thursday) we had trick-or-treat. The girls as you can see were dressed as monkeys. This is the only picture that I have of them both looking at me at the same time, but very cute. This is right before we left to get our candy. They ended up with so much candy that I sent half of it with Phil to work. The girls think that candy is also an appropriate "snack". This logic was cute and worked the 1st couple of times, but since then I've thankfully gotten them back to healthier options...

Last Sunday we went to our neighbors birthday party. Mallory was turning 2 and so we got "fancy shmancy" as the girls kept saying. I guess when you are 3, wearing dresses automatically makes you fancy.

On Monday we had took our Honda Pilot in to the mechanic shop be checked out. It has been running rough so we (I) decided we should probably look into the cause. The shop on Monday said it was the transmission and to take it to the dealership. When we went to pick up our car at the mechanic shop, Lindsay marched right in and said "Do you know what's wrong with our car?!" I died laughing.

On Tuesday the dealership said it was low on transmission fluid and they topped it off.  The EGR valve was also replaced, and luckily it was under an extended warranty. So the only cost for this entire situation was just our time. Good news considering we thought we may have to put several thousands of dollars into a new transmission right before Christmas. Happy to report that it is running good so far.

Wednesday we were invited to a belated Halloween party. Belated because practically every kid in Ohio has a nasty virus that keeps you ill for 10 days (we know first hand).  Julia and Evie were finally well, and so we put on our costumes again and went and had a good time playing with lots of other kids and bouncing in a bounce house. Our friend Hilary (Julia and Evie's mom) made lunch for everyone and then we had another "trick-or-treat". What a good idea and the kids really had a good time. We also ended up with some cool "rock star" sunglasses.

Thursday the girls had school and so I stayed home and did tons of laundry and picking up. The girls love going there and get to do all sorts of "messy" projects that I probably tend to avoid, so it's good for them. They are getting better with those sorts of things, and Olivia seems to have Phils creative side. The other day she drew a rabbit on the driveway, and it really looked like a rabbit, I was shocked. Though Lindsay has more patience and interest in coloring than Olivia, she hasn't shown her Picasso side yet. I'm hoping that it comes out too someday.

On Friday, we didn't go anywhere, thankfully. We needed the break.

On Saturday, the weather was so nice that Phil mowed the grass and changed the oil in both cars. After he was done, I went out and washed and waxed the Pilot, and then washed and waxed the Civic Sunday. It was such a nice day and I wanted to get that done before the snow starts to fall. Our friend Tyler came over to watch the OSU game with us. The girls didn't nap since they knew Tyler was coming over, so while Phil was watching the game and drinking beer, I was watching the girls and drinking beer. I have a feeling his game watching experience was a little less stressful than mine, hence the beer.

On Sunday we all went to visit my mom and dad. My dad had surgery for a blockage/growth in his large intestine a little over a week ago, so we went to visit him and see how he was feeling. He looked so much better and just seemed to be more himself.  He was feeling so good that he took the girls and myself on a 4-wheeler ride around the woods. Don't know if his dr would approve or not, but it was fun, and you just can't stop that man! He is always going, and hopefully for a long time from now too...
